BIOGRAPHY / BIOGRAPHIE
Hailed in his native Britain as "the kind of bright, burning voice pop has long missed," Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is the nom de musique of a gifted 21-year-old musician, producer, and songwriter whose work splices classic activist folk-rock with modern-era technology to create a unique and irrepressible approach. His Atlantic Records debut, "THE CHRONICLES OF A BOHEMIAN TEENAGER," is a marvel - a confident and creative debut that perfectly captures Get Cape's gift for sonic invention, his passionate and political lyricism, and an extraordinary knack for penning infectious, inspired melodies.
After doing time in a number of punk bands in his hometown of Southend, Get Cape ultimately decided that he'd prefer to go it alone. He began playing his songs to beats created on his laptop computer, a backing section he could take on tour simply by throwing it into his backpack. He adopted his soaring moniker as a way of avoiding the singer/songwriter pigeonhole. "I didn't want to turn up at hardcore shows using my own name in case people thought I was some emo pansy," he's said. "Hence becoming a superhero."
Armed only with his acoustic guitar and laptop, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly fashioned himself as a modern troubadour, building a truly fervent and loyal fanbase via hundreds of live shows over the past two years. Using the British railroad as his tour bus, he traveled the country night after night, eventually notching a resume which spans spontaneous guerilla gigs, benefit performances, festival showcases, and hopelessly sold-out headlining sets (including a recent SRO event at the 2,000-capacity London Astoria).
